- I bought a USR Sportster 28.8 vi modem. It comes with ôQuick linkö
- software, the
- modem has a ôworks with Windows 95ö sticker on it but as usual it just
- contains some
- tired old 16-bit software.
-
- But even worse now if I use my Window 95 fax wizard, everything seems
- to work fine but
- the documents come out all jumbled up. If I fax straight from ôQuick
- Linkö it works but
- just sends plain text. This turns a nicely crafted word processor
- document into a bland flat
- plain looking mess.
-
- Does anyone know how to un-fuck my Windows 95 faxing, while still
- using ôQuick linkö
- as a plain answering machine (I do not care if I lose my ability to
- receive faxes). I am
- really sick of these companies sticking on these ôworks with 95ö
- stickers on products that
- often do not work well with 95, or as in this case, screws up your
- ability to use the superb
- fax tools available in 95.
-
- Lets boycott shit products, these were the people who moaned and
- groaned every time
- Windows 95 was delayed, but know we find out they did not bother to
- produce any 32-bit
- drivers or software.
-
- BTW there are only a few basic chip sets for modems (80% of all modems
- use Rockwell
- chips) and almost all modems are made overseas by just a hand-full of
- producers. So my
- advice is to buy the cheapest, why spend more money to get there
- ôsoftwareö and
- ôsupportö
-
- Thanks,
- Jim
